Change Is Hard. Wellness & Nutrition Takes Time

It is really difficult to trust the process.

When we look at a dog with an ear infection, it's incredibly difficult to trust that essential oils will be a resolution to that issue. Especially, when others tell you antibiotics are required.

When we see a dog with allergies, it’s common to accept steroids for inflammation.

It is not different for the dog with, digestive health issues, or some other chronic issues -- or the new diagnosis. It is very difficult to even consider an alternative to what we have always been taught.

This is why an integrative approach is effective. Working with open-minded veterinarians for diagnostics and testing. Working with someone who is very well-studied in the field and in the products they represent. You don’t want someone limited to a set of products – which is why I study multiple modalities and fields, and why I want our FB group to not be limited to a product set.

As pet parents, we want those immediate results. In the back of our mind, we're thinking about what we have always done, or the marketing promise of some miracle drug.

Going natural is a process. At times it is met with resistance. Sometimes it is met with refusal.

It forces us to challenge some life-long beliefs. It may be something that sets you back on your heels in the future because you're worried or scared.

It may mean some work, some expense, and giving up some things you have valued or believed in the past -- ie weed-free yards, candlelight, perfume & lotions, cheap cleaning products...... that your current or past products are safe; that your vet is the only expert. That you made some mistakes.

But more often than not takes time. When we begin using essential oils -- we may use them for more of a response to some concern. It may be more like first-aid, or home-remedy in the same way you might use those OTO products or even an Rx. But the real magic happens when we use them proactively on a day to day basis with a focus on staying well rather than addressing illness.

Likewise, nutritional wellness takes time. Especially if the individual has been unwell when we start. Unwell may be a chronic health issue, aging issues, a long-time history of poor nutrition, environmental toxins, over-vaccination, or even a new diagnosis.

In many ways, it takes a bit of trial and error to see what works for the individual. Though we have common themes of issues -- the body in which it resides is individual. And the environment that body lives in is individual. So are the beliefs of the human supporting that body and sometimes YOU need a big shift in thinking and action.

It also takes time to allow the body to respond, resist, detox, and show us what it needs. There are foundational factors -- It's not a step by step, once size fits all. It is not a prescription.

We didn't get here overnight -- and unlike many medications that focus on symptom relief or suppression -- giving the body what it needs to heal and allowing that to work can take weeks. When we make a nutritional change we suggest it may be at least 3 months before we see results. In some cases, healing occurs on the inside, before we see it on the outside. Sure we need to observe and support -- but we have to be patient and strategic rather than keep making abrupt changes.

I can make this commitment to my clients:

🐾 I will work hard to find answers as much (maybe more) than you do. But I cannot be more invested in the effort and commitment than you.

🐾 I will give you the best educational information I can to help you make decisions.

🐾 I'll shoot straight with you -- no BS. I'll give you the best guidance I can. And when I don't know, I'll tell you I don't know. When I think you need something different, I'll tell you that too. That's why I wanted this group not just be limited to a product line.

🐾 I am not just trying to sell you something. Yes, I have my preferred products and chose them for quality. But we can work together on any product set that lives up to quality and efficacy.

🐾 I want what's best for your pet --but have to respect your decisions.
