The K9 Coach Behavior Immersion Intensive is an in-person, owner-involved dog behavior program in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for dogs struggling with reactivity, aggression, anxiety, fear, hypervigilance or behavior that has continued after previous training.
You bring your dog. You stay nearby. And instead of sending your dog away for two or three weeks and hoping the results transfer home, we spend concentrated time together learning what is really happening and what both ends of the leash need next.
Depending on your dog, your immersion may include sessions at The K9 Coach, walks, real-world outings, observation, duration and Place work, handling, confidence exercises, state-of-mind work, video review, management planning and long conversations about the dog you actually live with — including nutrition, wellness and the physical pieces that may be influencing behavior.

You probably are not looking for another weekly class because the problem has already become bigger than that.

What I do differently is keep you in the process.
Your Dog Does Not Leave You to Be “Fixed.”
In a traditional board-and-train program, the dog lives with the trainer for a period of time and the owner usually becomes deeply involved near the end when the dog is transferred back home.
That model can teach dogs skills.
But complex behavior often includes much more than what the dog does for the professional holding the leash.
I want to see how you interact with your dog. I want you to see what I see. I want to know what happens when nothing is being asked of the dog. I want to see how quickly your dog recovers, what makes them anxious, how much they monitor you, what the leash feels like in your hands and what changes when we alter the environment or your response.
You are not waiting for a handoff lesson at the end. You are part of the work from the beginning.
Your Dog Is Learning
We may work on observation, recovery, confidence, Place, duration, leash handling, disengagement, calm movement, household skills or real-world behavior depending on what your dog actually needs.
You Are Learning Too
You learn to recognize changing body language, understand threshold, handle situations differently, know when to create distance, know when to ask for more and understand what your dog is communicating before behavior escalates.
One of the Dogs Who Changed the Way I Look at Intensive Behavior Work
I once worked with a family who traveled from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach with a dog who had already been through a tremendous amount of training.
He was obedient.
Very obedient.
He knew the commands. He watched his handler closely. He responded quickly. On paper, he looked like a dog whose previous training had worked beautifully.
But when I spent enough time around him, something else became obvious.
He was always working.
He monitored his person constantly. He anticipated the next command. He seemed worried about getting something wrong. Even when nobody was asking him to do anything, he remained mentally on duty.
The obedience was there.
The ability to simply exhale and be a dog was not.
A one-hour appointment could easily have shown me a beautifully trained dog. Spending concentrated time together showed me an overtrained, hypervigilant dog who needed help learning how to switch off.
That is the kind of information immersion can reveal.
When a Weekend or Multi-Day Dog Behavior Intensive May Make Sense
This is not intended as a crash course for ordinary puppy manners. The value of immersion is having enough time together to understand a more complicated picture.
Reactive Dogs
Your dog barks, lunges, fixates or loses control around dogs, people, bicycles, traffic or other triggers and ordinary walks have become difficult to manage.
Aggression & Bite History
Your dog has growled, snapped, bitten or presented significant safety concerns and you need more than generic obedience advice.
Appropriate screening and safety planning are required before any in-person work involving aggression.
Fear, Anxiety & Trauma
Your dog is frightened, shut down, hypervigilant, anxious in new environments or unable to recover well after something overwhelms them.

Bring existing video of the behavior when you have it. We can slow it down together and look at what happened before, during and after the incident.

We can work through visitors, walks, household dogs, children, doors, crates, gates, routines and the situations that have become difficult at home.
Nutrition and Wellness Are Part of the Immersion Too
If we are going to spend several concentrated days trying to understand your dog's behavior, I am not going to pretend the brain is floating around separately from the rest of the body.
We will talk about what your dog eats, digestion, sleep, pain, medications, physical health, exercise, stress and other pieces that may influence how well your dog copes and recovers.
And this is bigger than trying to “fix behavior with food.”
I want pet parents understanding their dog's long-term health too.
Behavior may be why you came to North Myrtle Beach, but you have my attention for several days. That gives us an opportunity to talk about nutrition, wellness and longevity in a way that rarely fits comfortably into a rushed training lesson.

Make the Trip With Your Dog
The North Myrtle Beach area makes this model practical because there are many lodging options and dog-friendly places where visiting families can stay with their dogs.
You arrange your own travel and accommodations. Before the immersion, we will talk about your dog's needs so you can choose lodging and routines that are appropriate for them.
This is not a dog-friendly vacation itinerary disguised as behavior work.
A reactive or fearful dog does not need to be dragged through every pet-friendly attraction in Myrtle Beach simply because you came to town.
Outings are chosen intentionally around what your dog needs and what they can successfully handle.
Sometimes the useful environment is busy. Sometimes it is quiet. Sometimes the best work happens while your dog learns to settle and do absolutely nothing.
Your Immersion Does Not Have to Replace Good Work Already Happening at Home
You may already be working with a trainer you trust.
If that person is helping you build good practical skills, I do not need to compete with them or start your dog from zero.
The immersion can focus on the pieces that are still unresolved: state of mind, reactivity, confidence, recovery, household patterns, nutrition, physical wellness, relationship or why the dog's obedience is not translating into emotional stability.
Sometimes the answer is not another trainer. Sometimes it is another set of eyes looking at a different part of the same dog.
When appropriate, I am happy for your current trainer and veterinarian to remain part of the larger plan.

Your dog's home environment is still where everyday life happens.
Once you leave North Myrtle Beach, we want the work to travel home with you.

Video lets me see how the dog looks once they are back in the environment where the original problem occurred.
Continue Through Zoom
Follow-up coaching can continue remotely so we can troubleshoot, adjust and build on what we learned during the immersion.
Paid Travel When It Is Really Needed
If there is a situation at home that genuinely needs me physically present, travel may be available as a paid addition depending on location, scheduling and the case.

Package clients receive access to my membership and community for the duration of our work together, giving you additional educational resources and support as you implement the plan at home.
Dogs With Serious Aggression Require Screening Before Travel
If your dog has bitten, attempted to bite, seriously attacked another dog, redirects onto the handler, cannot be safely handled or presents another significant risk, tell me before making travel arrangements.
I need the actual bite history and the actual behavior — not the polite version.
Some dogs may need management changes, veterinary involvement or remote work before an in-person immersion is safe or useful.
The point of intensive work is not to manufacture dramatic encounters. It is to create enough time and appropriate situations to understand the dog without creating unnecessary risk.
Board and Train, Dog Behavior Intensives & Traveling for Help
Is this a board-and-train program?
No. Your dog does not board with me for several weeks. You travel with your dog and participate in the Behavior Immersion Intensive yourself. It is designed for people who want concentrated professional help without handing the dog over and being removed from the learning process.
Is this a board-and-train alternative for a reactive or aggressive dog?
It can be. Reactivity and aggression are two of the reasons someone may consider intensive behavior work, but every dog is screened individually. Safety, bite history, triggers and the dog's ability to work in an unfamiliar environment all affect whether travel is appropriate.
How long is a dog behavior immersion?
The program can be structured as a concentrated weekend or several days depending on the case. I do not want to force every dog into an identical schedule simply because the package has a catchy number attached to it.
Can I travel to North Myrtle Beach for dog behavior help?
Yes. This program is specifically designed to make concentrated in-person work possible for families who may live outside the immediate Grand Strand area. You stay locally with your dog and attend planned sessions and outings with me.
What if my dog already has a trainer?
That is fine. I can focus on the pieces your current trainer may not be addressing and, when appropriate, work alongside the practical training already happening at home rather than replacing it.
Does the behavior intensive include nutrition?
Nutrition and wellness are part of the whole-dog conversation because physical health can influence behavior, stress tolerance and recovery. The immersion is not automatically a full nutrition consultation, but we will discuss your dog's food and wellness history and identify areas that deserve further attention.
What happens after I go home?
Behavior support can continue through Zoom and video review. If the situation requires me to travel to your home for additional hands-on work, paid travel may also be available when appropriate.
